HOW LONG IS THE RACE?

The complete course distance will be 30-35 miles. You have up to six hours to complete the course, or as much of the course as you and your team are able. The race is being designed so that most teams should be able to complete the course to be official finishers. However, we want to provide teams with the opportunity to race for the entire six hours so there will be additional check points from the standard finish for those who want to race for the victory.

WOW! Six HOURS. DO I NEED TO BE SUPER FIT TO DO THIS EVENT?

First to be successful in adventure racing there are three main attributes: swiftness, team work and brain power. If you are proficient in all three you have a great chance to be a finisher. As a general rule if you can run a 10K at 10 to 11 min/mile you have the capacity to finish this event. Remember, there is a lot of stop and go in this event. You will be surprised how quickly six hours passes.

I'VE DONE A "MUD RUN." HOW IS INDYQUEST'S Urban ADVENTURE DIFFERENT?

As we say, "Do an obstacle course race and you'll have some pictures to show your friends the next day. Do an adventure race and you'll have stories to tell for a lifetime."  Obstacle courses only demand swiftness.  In addition, most “mud run” events have age restrictions that prevent parents from racing with their younger children.  In this event you need team work and brain power to conquer the multiple challenges.  Working together is the most important quality and enhances the experience. You will get messy in this event, but the degree will depend a little on the team.

MY NAVIGATING SKILLS AREN'T SO GREAT. WILL THAT BE A PROBLEM?

In adventure racing you can only go as fast as you can navigate. The faster you out-pace your navigation, the quicker you get lost. The good news is: if you can read a street map, you can do this race. You become a better navigator by navigating!

What type of challenges can we expect?

In twelve years we have done a lot of amazing things: shot a basket at Banker Life Field House, jumped off the 7.5 meter (25 feet) platform at the natatorium, navigated the catacombs under the City Market, ran through the 2.2 mile tunnel under downtown Indianapolis, along with many other mental and physical challenges to test you and your teammates.

Will We Know the course a head of time?

Simply, NO! We want to make you think!! You will get pre-marked maps and instructions  some time before the race. Working together as a team in a timely manner is the key. We like to throw in surprises, so be ready for anything.
